Dealing with Depression

Have you ever had a loved one who has gone through Depression?

Just a few months back, I personally suffered from depression and I know how scary it can be. It pains me now, to know that a loved one is probably going through the same thing too. I don't know how to help him other than to pray. I really pray that God will bring him through this ordeal and give him strength, peace, joy and comfort once again.

If anyone of you out there is reading this, can I ask that you pray along with me? I would be so thankful for your kindness. Please, share your experiences with me too, if any. Thanks!

Today, I took my IPPT, a physical test that I am required to take each year.

I managed to pass in the end, with a timing of 15:08min for my 2.4KM run. :)

What I Have Been Up To...

I realised that I am becoming rather lazy in updating my blog. I don't want to let it rot away though. So, I will still try to post as often as I can. :)

Last sunday, our family spent quality time together before we send this boy off to Army, to serve his national service and transform into a man! So far, he's doing well in his 2 weeks' confinement, been calling home every night to report that he's fine and alright (much to the delight of my mum). He's going to be back on the 19th, can't wait to see his botak head! ;P

I have been spending more time doodling and sketching these days, doing so makes me feel happy and inspired. Just to share a few, I came up with a version of :

Then, we planned a surprise birthday party for my cousin, Winston, who's turning 21, at my eldest cousin's place. We spent time playing Xbox and enjoying each other's company. I think he was rather touched when we presented his gift (GUESS watch) and the cake. Sayang said Winston's eyes were watery. I'm so happy that we managed to make his day! :)

The sad thing was, my camera's battery went flat before the actual celebration, so I wasn't able to capture the moments.

On top of all these, I spent time at Sayang's house last evening and took shots of his Doramon collection. He's a boy in a big man's body. Haha!

I am wondering how his collections of Doramon and my collections of Winnie the Pooh can fit into our house in future. Guess we just have to find space. Giving away any of it is definitely not an option. I'm insistent like that. :P

Finally, my weekend ended with me satisfying my craving for the oh-so-yummy Chocolate Melts from McDonalds. You have to try it if you haven't! It's heavenly! :)

1) savouring yummy chinese food at Paradise Dynasty with Sayang. :)

2) Purchasing this wonderful book at Kinokuniya!

I was absolutely delighted when I came to know about this book! It's filled with activities that draw out the creative side of you, with regards to fashion. I am going to have fun with it after I'm done with my modules!

Funny aside: Sayang hates going into bookstores with me, because I spend a really LONG time inside. That particular day, when we stepped into Kinokuniya, he excused himself and I thought oh, he's going to the food section to browse through the yummy food in recipe books. Shortly after, he returned with my book! Turns out that he actually zoomed into the arts & design section to look for my book, so that we can get out of the bookstore as soon as possible. So hilarious and cute at the same time! I ended up staying for more than an hour browsing through other books though, poor him. :)

3) Playing around with this journal

Oh! I saw this lady with really nice crochet knee-high boots, in another bookstore (again, I know! I just love them!) I wanted to ask if I can take a photo of her, but I just didn't have the guts to do so. Bummer!

Heaven Is For Real!

I've been a Christian since 2004 and I've been told that I will go to heaven because I believe in Christ. To be frank, deep down, I always wonder if there really is heaven and if I will really meet Jesus there. It has always been a 'we'll see when I die' kinda thing to me. I didn't think of heaven as a wonderful place, especially since my family and friends are not yet saved. I thought heaven will not be heaven if I don't get to see them there. However, everything changed when I picked up this book yesterday!

As crazy as it may sounds, this little boy went to heaven and came back to tell of his little trip there. He tells of how our prayers are listened to and answered, of how heaven looks like, and of how much Jesus loves children! It's hard not to believe in heaven after reading this book! It brings me immerse joy and peace to know that, indeed, heaven is for real, and that my saviour, Jesus Christ, will be the first person to receive me in Heaven. The book talks about one last battle that is to come but the good news is that, Jesus will eventually win the battle! Seriously, what's there to fear, now that you've already know how things will turn out in the end? The only thing I have to do now, is to trust and keep praying for the salvation of my loved ones, for I long to be able to enjoy heaven with them. :)

Completion of JFAC Prompts + Outfit Post

Finally, I have completed all my prompts from Journalling For A Cause class. I have also completed an exam today! Yay to completion! :D

Prompt 26: Lessons Learned

I jotted down some of my learning points for this journalling class and I think it's kinda reflective of how I should work on my character, such as disciplining myself to not procrastinate and being secured with my own work.

Prompt 27: Something Different...

This prompt challenges us to use a different material for journalling, something that we do not usually use. I chose crayons and indeed, it was as messy as I thought it will be. It was rather fun though, reliving those days in school when we were only allowed crayons for art classes. :)

Prompt 28: Goals

well, we were supposed to do September goals but since, I'm way behind, I decided to do goals for July! I'm really hoping to achieve every single one for them!

Prompt 29: I should or should not...

I chose to look at this prompt differently and did a page on reminding myself to be contented with what I already have, instead of constantly thinking of what I want or should have in my life.

Celebrating Mummy's Birthday!

Over the weekend, we celebrated the beautiful aging of my Mummy with dinner at a Nonya restaurant and an impromptu trip to Haegen Daz for dessert! :)

Baba Inn's the name of the restaurant. The food was only at best, average, and rather disappointing. The plus point was that the waiter provided really good service, earning a tip of ten bucks from my mum. I don't think we're going to patronise them anymore in future though.

I was so stressed about my first essay exam, especially since the textbook is super duper boring. I am embarrassed to say that I am still working on this particular module even though it has already been almost a year. :S

Whew! This page was exhausting to come up with, had me totally racking my brains. It was fun though, and I like how the page turned out. Don't you?

I took the literal meaning of the prompt and drew myself working on this page. It didn't turn out very well though. I guess I need to work on my drawing of plane views!

Prompt 22: Looking Forward To...

I was looking forward to our first year anniversary because we will be visiting the newly opened Universal Studios Singapore! Needless to say, I had a really fun time at the theme park. There was a slight hiccup at the end but that's another story...

Prompt 23: The Unsent Letter

I took the opportunity to create an envelope out of a magazine page using a tutorial I saw somewhere back then. I decided to seal it up because I don't want anyone reading this. It's a very private letter that I wrote to someone that I will never ever meet. Well, at least I hope not.

Prompt 24: This past week

Looking at this page, I can't exactly pinpoint what I was feeling at that point in time. I guess I was having mixed feelings about my future with Sayang, and things were piling up from all different parts of our lives. Thank God we're much better and over the phase now. :)

Prompt 25: Favourite Season

That will have to be winter! I guess it's because we don't have it in Singapore, so I always enjoy winter when I am overseas. Christmas happens in winter and thus, the season of hope, love and joy, as well as lots of year-end sales! It's also the time when Sayang and I get to celebrate our yearly anniversary! I experimented with some cotton balls in this page and I like the outcome!

Hopefully I will be done soon and be able to start on the new 30 Day Journal Challenge. I can't wait!

It's been a long long time...

since I've last blogged. I simply didn't feel like blogging at all. I've been so busy with schoolwork, trying to finish everything before the deadlines. To be honest, I became so stressed that I think a suffer a case of mild depression. Till now, I am trying hard not to feel depressed, to not let the fear of depression overcome me. Thank God for LG mates and Allison, who have been praying for and with me, and especially for Sayang, who has constantly been around for me. I really hope all these will be over soon.

On a happier note, I have been able to complete an exam and done much studying despite the stress. I hope things will get better. I can't wait to graduate and get married to my beloved Sayang! *blushes*

Horrifying Experience at ABSOLUTE THAI!

So, after hearing my cousin raved about Absolute Thai @ Century Square, I decided to try the outlet at Marina Bay Link Mall. After all, I was craving for thai food, after Rach posted yummy photos on her blog! After a long walk from Marina Bay station, we finally located Absolute Thai, starving and all. We quickly sat down and ordered a Thai Mango Salad, Minced Chicken with Hot Basil Leaves and Tom Yum Soup, all of which are their signature dishes.

Looks yummy right? Absolutely WRONG! Halfway through the meal, I discovered two floating insects in the Tom Yum Soup! Totally disgusted, I beckoned for the waitress to present her my shocking discovery. I chose to cancel the order, instead of having another fresh bowl of Tom Yum soup. Once is enough. Then minutes later, I was appalled to discover another insect, crawling at the edge of my plate! Ewwww!!! I was so freaked out that we decided to call for the bill after complaining once more. I rather be hungry than eat food that's unclean.

To add on to my misery, my flats were giving me trouble, so much so that I can't walk properly. Despite that, we ended up taking a long walk to Raffles City to get me a pair of cheap flip-flops. The walk was fulfilling though, as I discovered many places that I had not realised exist before. We had fun exploring and taking funny pictures along the way. Sometimes, a twist can change things for the better. :)

Exploring Bedok Point & Sakae Sushi!

So this week, I was able to drag Sayang along to explore the newly opened Bedok Point. Sad to say, it was not a satisfying experience, except for our Kbox Session. The mini mall consists of more restaurants than any other shops.

We had lunch at Sushi Tei, and to my dismay, the salmon was not fresh. That was the first bad meal. Then later, we had dinner at Chicken Hotpot. We ordered a small chicken pot, and when we dug in, we realised that there were more chicken bones than chicken meat. The food tasted just alright as well. Needless to say, there's not going to be a second time dining in at the restaurant. Thank God the day ended well with yummy bubble tea from Essential, at Bedok Central. :)

Then today, we had sushi buffet for dinner at Sakae Sushi! I'm a huge fan of Japanese food, especially sushi. :) Sayang had some serious craving for mochi today. Initially, he gotten 4 pieces off the conveyor belt and decided that he really liked them. We ordered another 4 pieces, only to discover that they were not included in the buffet, after waiting for more than half an hour. Poor Sayang, he was so disappointed. He was really lucky though, to have gotten the first 4 pieces for free. The complimentary ice-cream for the buffet was enough to satisfy him in the end. :)

Raiding My Mum's Closet!

As some of you might have already noticed, my outfits usually consist of items that belong to my mum. She has quite a few pieces of clothings and accessories that I kinda like. When I'm on a tight budget, I will just go to her wardrobe and source for stuff that I like, and that makes me happy! Haha, I know, it may sound silly, but hey, it's almost as if I went shopping. You know what's best? I don't even have to spend a single cent! ;P

So until recently, I thought of having a feature, 'Raiding Mum's Closet', in which I will try to put together a piece from my mum's wardrobe, and create my own style. How does that sounds? :)

Thai Express!

As I was craving for Thai Express, Sayang brought me to Illuma Bugis to have dinner. As usual, the food was delicious and the service, excellent!

I'm really impressed by the service crew over at Illuma Bugis' Thai Express outlet. They were attentive to our needs and took the initiative in making sure that our glasses were constantly being refilled. Most importantly, they took notice of the fact that Sayang was 'raining' during his course of meal and provided tissue paper readily. *Sayang perspires easily, especially while eating.*

Are You Performance-Oriented?

" BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD"

This was the opening verse to a sermon that I was listening from church. "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD", I'm sure we've heard this verse multiple times in worship songs, but have we ever stop to think and understand its full meaning?

Many a times, we tend to rely on our own strength in achieving things, so much so that we forget all about God. We're constantly trying to prove something, so that we can be recognised. We fail to realise that whatever we have actually comes from Him, the Almighty God. There's nothing for us to be proud of, because all the credit should go to Him. Even today, after listening to the sermon, I forgot to be humble and became proud when I heard from Sayang that I was praised by someone else. I was only reminded again of the message when the opening verse came back to me just now, making me realise that I did not earn the praise by my own strength. Sayang was actually the one who mentioned something way earlier that allowed me to suggest/feedback on an issue. We need to be humble and graceful in our everyday life, being constantly reminded of the fact that all is possible because of Him.

In this fast-paced world, especially in a society like that of Singapore, we tend to be so performance-oriented that we forgot to rest. We feel like we constantly have to be on the go. Sometimes, resting makes us feel so guilty. We have to understand that God is in control, that we need not fret or worry about anything. As long as we've a good relationship with Him, we will be at peace, contented with what we have and not be caught up with the worldly needs and desires. I'm not sure about you, but I have to admit that I'm guilty of committing the above offences.

The sermon was really a wake-up call to me. I don't usually discuss deep into my faith in my blog, but today, I felt so compelled to type this post. 17th Month!

I've been sick for the entire week...Thank God though, that I was well enough to be able to spend my 17th month anniversary with Sayang out of the house yesterday! :)

We had dinner at Fish & Co, much to the dismay of Sayang, because he dislikes any place without chicken. Haha! To be fair, he ate quite a bit of chicken during lunch. :P

The Great Love Of A Mum

There's something that I feel that I must share immediately after hearing it...

For the past few days, Sayang has been complaining about backache due to a spoilt spring in his mattress. Then, he went home yesterday and discovered that he has a new mattress. What happened was that his mum actually went to purchase a new mattress for him, despite him telling her that it's alright. She carried the mattress all the way home, without any help. If you must know, Sayang's mum is already in her 60s, and is a very petite woman. I felt so touched after hearing it, when I realised how much Sayang's mum love him. That instant, I felt the great love of a mum, and told myself that I must treat my mum and her well. It's not mother's day, but I want to make this a tribute to all mothers out there. :)

I'm so glad that Sayang liked my cooking and the little handmade gift (posted previously). He was rather touched by my efforts and I got kisses for that! We didn't go anywhere fantastic today, neither did we give each other expensive gifts. Instead, we chose to celebrate Valentine's in a simple manner, and still had a great time. :)

Eric Villarama and his wife, Donita Rose, came up with a series of videos to show their 7 years old son, JP, the secrets to love, life and a healthy, fulfilling marriage. They will also be publishing a book on LoveSense in future! How great is their love for JP that they've decided to come up with this!

After watching this first episode, I must say, I'm really touched. I can really feel the love oozing out of the video, love towards their child and love towards each other. It's an awesome video, lauched just in time for Valentine's Day! :)

*on a side note: Even more so, after watching this video, I can't wait to get married with Sayang! :)

Today marks the 16th Month that Sayang and I have been together! :)

We spent the day exploring the new shopping centre at Serangoon, NEX. Guess what we found?

There's also a cafe that allows dogs to roam about while their owners are dining in. They serve food for dogs too. We're already thinking of bringing Twinkle (Sayang's dog) there soon!

I know I've been missing for really long and I predict that it may happen quite often in future. I've decided to only blog when I'm able to, instead of really frequent because it actually takes up a lot of my time and I end up not doing my assignments (which are more important tasks). Hehe. ;P

I only managed to take photos up till the third day of Chinese New Year. For those who don't know, Chinese New Year actually consists of fifteen days so the entire period's meant for visiting relatives and friends. It's the Year of the Rabbit now, which explains why there's many Bugs Bunny look-alike pasted around the house. :)

My cousin's wedding happened over the weekend. I had to be at her house at 5:30am in the morning (lack of sleep!) but it was fun, being a bridesmaid for the first time. :)

It makes me smile whenever I see an elderly couple holding hands or just spending time together. I can almost feel the love between them, a love that has not diminished over the years, but a love that has grew stronger for each other. It's just so sweet and makes me feel warm and fuzzy all inside. I want a love that's like that too, when I'm old. I still want to be able to spend time together with my hubby, holding hands and feeling my heart beats faster each time he smiles at me. :)

I have a great idea! I want to take on a project of photographing elderly couples who are still so much in love. I hope I can step out of my shy shell and be able to approach them for photos though. It's gonna be so fun! :)

As for the gifts, Sayang gave me a bouquet of sunflower and a Pooh bolster! I'm a happy girl! :)

this bouquet came as a total surprise! I wasn't expecting any flowers. :)

(I prefer to hug the guy himself though. ;P)

The day was so magical and fun, except for a little hiccup at the end. All in all, it was so awesome that I felt really sad when the day had to end. I wish time would just stop there! :D

It's A Sad Day For Singapore

because of the passing of two of our own today.

Firstly, we receive news that a promising medical student pursuing her studies in London, Cambridge University, has been killed in a hit-and-run accident. Worse still, she was dragged 1.6km down the road after being hit. A young girl of 20, she had a bright future ahead of her, yet she was killed in such a tragic accident. I hope the driver will be convicted and sentenced to a term that's justifiable. (Alleged London hit—and—run driver arrested)

Secondly, Mrs Lee, wife of our Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew, passed away peacefully in the evening. She was the pillar of strength behind MM Lee and had stood by him throughout all the difficult periods, especially during the rebuilding of our nation after gaining Independence. Without her wisdom and knowledge in assisting MM Lee, I believe Singapore would not have accomplished what we have today. She was truly a respectable and strong woman. (Wife of Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew dies at 89)

It is indeed a great loss to Singapore, to have received such bad news in just the span of a day. I hope you'll join me in praying for the families of the above two. Thank you.

I've started working on my special album for Sayang, for our 1 year anniversary! This is my first artwork, the logo of the restaurant we went to, on our first date. I had totally no idea he already liked me then. :)

Remember the charms? I managed to string them together with 3 strands of leather! I like how it turned out to be kinda edgy with a cute factor. :)

I was also tasked to design and draw shirts for my two of my lifegroup ladies, for their birthday celebration. Took me quite a while, having to first come up with the design on a sheet of paper, before transferring them to the shirts with a fabric marker. I added in details along the way. After which, I had to iron the shirt so that the ink will be permanent. Then, I washed the shirts and iron them again. I'm happy with the end products, so were my friends! It's actually the first time I'm designing shirts for others, so I felt really glad that they were well-received. :)

It seems like my posts are now more about my weekends. I certainly hope that I can manage to make my weekdays fruitful too!

I've been pretty much missing in action because my lappy had decided that she/he (whichever) wants to retire early. Thank God I managed to salvage the whole situation with the recovery guide CD that came with the lappy. Whew, sure took me a long time~

I'm finally back to blog again! The past week has been rather hectic, with me having another stomach upset and preparing for an exam. I foresee the weeks and months ahead to be even busier, with more assignments and exams to prepare for. That said, I still had a great weekend!

Firstly, after a long search, I finally found the perfect present for someone special! I'm gonna prepare my letter and mail it out soon! :)

Then I attended Wan Hsin's 21st Birthday party. I made her a birthday card and we got her $60 worth of Starbucks voucher! I hope that will make her a very happy birthday girl, considering the kind of Starbucks' fan she is.

I found some neoprints that we took a few years back and put some other random stuff together, to create her birthday card. It feels good to still be able to come up with something after so long. My brother thinks I do art like a primary school kid though.

Her theme was stripes and I chose something really simple to go along with. You're wondering why she's not in stripes? That's part of her plan, so that she will stand out. Really sly huh? ;P

My doorgift. She's such a sweetie, coming up with this, writing notes for each and every one of her friends who's gonna turn up. I love the star-shaped cookie! :)

To end the perfect weekend, I went for the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run this morning, in support for the prison inmates' second lease of life. I did the 6km run with Sayang. However, it was raining and I had stitches, coupled with gastric pain, so we ended up only running 2km or so, and walked the rest of it. It was great fun though. I felt really blessed, just holding hands with Sayang, laughing at his random jokes, on the way. It's almost like a dream come true. To top it off, the run ended with Milo vans on standby! I love Milo! :D

It Hurts So Bad...

Have you ever felt so much pain that tears just kept streaming down your cheeks even when you try so hard to keep them in? I debated about sharing this, but decided to do so anyway.

Last night, I found out something that would have been better hidden away forever. I already know about Sayang's past, but why does the little details still hurt so badly? I mean, I had already knew what I could probably face, when I chose not to walk away after he told me about his past, but I didn't expect it to be so painful. I shouldn't have looked it up, I should have known better than that. Now that I know, and there seemed to be more than what I had originally thought was a number special to only both of us, I can't help feeling hurt. I really hope it's just a coincidence. Sayang doesn't know what I have discovered yet. I keep telling myself that I can bear with it, that I will pretend that nothing happened so that I won't worry him.

The truth is, I really need him to be with me right now, to ease away my pain and tell me that it's all gonna be okay...

We Females Deserve Respect TOO!

Warning: Don't read on if you're not interested in my feminist views, especially if you're a male. Mean comments are NOT appreciated.

I happened to be stuck with some obnoxious guys while on duty yesterday. I can still take it if they are not as hardworking, or that they are full of complaints. However, I cannot stand the fact that they spent majority of the day gawking at girls. That itself, is still bearable. What is absolutely intolerable's the fact that they were rude and disrespectful with their comments, among themselves. They were classifying the passing ladies according to their boob sizes, making comments like "That lady was really not bad!". I shall not elaborate on how they commented on the sizes. Besides, I didn't want to remember what they said. One guy even had the cheek to try to get to know a lady from another organisation. Of course, she was too busy carrying out her duty to actually bother with him. I thought the guys were really idiotic and disrespectful, especially when I was around them, even if I was standing a distance away. Mind you, I can still hear them, loud and clear.

If you're a guy and you're reading this, which is really unlikely, then there's some facts about women that I will like you to get into your head:

1. We do NOT appreciate you talking about our female counterparts in our presence. IT'S REALLY DISRESPECTFUL.
2. Do NOT rank/categorise us according to any parts of our body. We're not objects! We're a whole! How would you like us to rank you guys according to your height, weight or a CERTAIN part of your body?
3. We do not feel appreciated, more loved when you discuss about our body or looks, we prefer someone who will see us for who we are, not solely on our appearances.
4. PLEASE take a look in the mirror before you dare to criticise anyone of us. You are not exactly Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. For the good-looking dudes, no, we still don't think it's justifiable to discuss about us, just because.
5. Remember the above and be warned. Don't blame us if we turn evil when you don't follow them. *ROARS!*

That's about it. It took quite a bit of me, to not actually snap at them. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate men. In fact, I love my Sayang! Plus, I do think there's nice and respectful guys around, and I give them credit. It's just that I can't stand obnoxious and idiotic men like those mentioned above. END OF RANT. Thanks for bearing with me if you're still reading this. :)

Ever since the sudden increase of my school fees recently, I've been sharing and praying with the lifegroup about my finances. It felt that God answered my prayer through Cecil yesterday. Just as I was about to leave, Cecil slipped a red packet into my hand and insisted that I receive it. To my surprise, she had placed a 100 USD bill inside! I felt so blessed by her giving heart, that she would choose to bless me with such a huge amount without any hesitation. I'm not exactly sure how I'm gonna use this money, but I'm definitely gonna save it up and put it to good use. :)

Whew, this page was a little difficult to come up with. It took quite a while before I have 50 random facts about me. It was fun though! :)

I don't have any pets at home, so I chose to feature my Sayang's family dog, Twinkle! She's such a beauty! I absolutely adore her! To do up this page, I explored with my printer and was delighted to get such good quality prints of Twinkle, despite the low ink warning. I decorated the page with stars simply because 'Twinkle' reminds me of the childhood song, 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'.

I kept this page really simple and drew a pair of earrings I saw on my churchmate the other day. It had a simple design but I felt so enchanted by it. I almost had an impulse to search for something similar and make it mine. I know, I know, it's just a pair of earrings. I can't help it, it was BEAUTIFUL~

'Breaking Fast' at Arnolds' Friend Chicken! Yummy!

During the Ramandan, the Muslims has to fast from Sunrise to Sunset. Since I'm staying in multi-racial Singapore and I studied in a Junior College that was populated by Muslims, I'm not new to this whole fasting thing. I actually think it's admirable of the Muslims to fast for the entire month because it takes lots of faith, determination and endurance to complete the fasting. Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting up with my Muslim friends to break fast at Arnolds' Fried Chicken! Absolutely delicious and juicy fried chicken! I didn't get to take any photos because I was too busy savouring the goodness. :)

To get seats at Arnolds' for breaking of fast, we actually had to queue up to 3 hours before, to get a table. Since the girls needed to pray before meeting me, I went to queue for the group. I got lots of stares from Malays and Chinese alike, because I was too fair to pass off as a Malay. It was quite an experience, queueing up for almost an hour and half, before I get our table, and then waiting for another hour and a half, to finally eat at break fast time! It was all worth it though, to enjoy such yummy fried chicken and to catch up with the girls. :)

As I was watching the SYOG opening ceremony today, emotions rushed out within me and I felt such immense pride that Singapore is hosting the first ever YOG in history, so much so that I almost cried. I'm patriotic like that. Then I went on to watch Taekwondo, which brought back so much memories of the times I've trained so hard during each training. How I would try so hard to keep up during running, feeling proud of myself each time I survived the rigourous training. I remember feeling so disappointed when I failed my black belt grading twice, and how I was so relieved and elated when I finally passed it the third time. I really miss Taekwondo trainings and I hope that I can one day, return back to train again. :)

Thoughts & Journalling For A Cause pages

I have been so tired and lazy these few days, that all I wanna do when I get home, is to bath and sleep. Plus, I was on duty for SYOG (Singapore Youth Olympic Games). Reported at 10am and only managed to reach home at 130am the next morning. I'm still trying to recover my sleep. Hee. That say, I felt proud to have been part of the first ever YOG (and it's happening in Singapore!), despite not being able to watch the entire opening ceremony live. The fireworks were spendid though, very stunning, so beautiful when they light up the sky. :)

I'm really very behind in my journalling. I've only managed to complete these pages in the past week. Hopefully, I'll catch up soon.

Prompt 12's about 'Today', and I attended a teachers' day dinner themed 'Hats'. It was so fun, getting to see the different kinds of hats the teachers came up with. I wore a tiny 'hat' hairclip because I wanted to keep it simple. It's almost similar to the black hat that has a blue ribbon that I drew above. :)

Prompt 13's about childhood dream! I cut up a wristband to decorate the page and added in a photo of myself when I was really young. I've always wanted to be a police officer. I may actually sign on when I graduate next year!

10th Month!

Sayang and I celebrated our 10th month together today. Yes! 2 more months and we would have been together for a year. I can't wait for that day! Which reminds me, I have to start working on my surprise special album for him really soon. We visited Marina Bay Sands and I thought it was kinda boring. The shops are all high-end and don't interest me at all. The casino? Not interested either.

The worse part of the day was that Sayang and I had a small unhappy episode. I wanted to take his photo but he didn't want to let me take any, because he wasn't in a 'photo' mood. He's not a fan of photos anyway, but I had thought it's a special day and he would allow me to. Plus, I needed a photo for the special album! I can't tell him though, then there will be no surprise. So, we were both unhappy with each other. Thank God we talked about it after awhile, apologised to each other for being not thoughtful enough and made up. I had to admit, he gave in more to me, than I did to him. Really, he's such a dear. I managed to take a few photos in the end. I won't show any of Sayang's photos on my blog or anywhere else because of some personal reasons. So it will always be just me. ;P

Oh! I finally fulfilled my wish of bowling together! My scores totally sucked though. Still, I'm happy! :)

I never did realise that my bowling pose's so ugly and unglamourous until today. So embarrassing~

Prompt 9: If they were to write a book about you, what would the cover look like?? I thought this was a really cool idea and really fun!! What would the cover of your biography look like? Who would it be written by??

I took a really long time to come up with this book cover, had no idea what to do for this prompt. In the end, I decided that I would want a book on my love story with Sayang. It's titled 'Overcoming The Odds', because honestly speaking, not many people approve of our relationship from the beginning. We're still trying to prove that we can last together, forever. If written, I hope this book's gonna be an inspiration to those who are in the same plight as us. :)

Prompt 10's about book list. I did a page on my favourite books, but halfway through, I can't seem to remember all the books I've read. I think it's time I start reading again, been really busy with schoolwork, that I tend to neglect reading. I miss reading story books, instead of textbooks...

Prompt 11's about 3 things I cannot live without. I chose to have the focus on the words and then doodle on the remaining space. The 3 things I can't live without :

1. My phone (so that I can stay connected with my loved ones, and have my daily night chats with Sayang)

2. Water (I actually prefer plain water over any type of drinks. I bring a waterbottle with me whenever I'm out)

Journalling For A Cause - Prompt 3, 4 and 5

I'm finally feeling well enough to work on my journalling pages. I'm still behind though by few pages though. :(

My pages:

Prompt 3's about altering a repeat image. This was a hard one, took me rather long to finally get my inspiration. I decided to draw multiple images of circles on my page and then alter them into something different, using colour pens, colour pencils and a cut-out. Simple but fun page. :)

Prompt 4's defining what happiness means to me. I actually did something similar before, in my own sketchbook. Right now, Happiness means spending time together with my Sayang. :)

Prompt 6's "It's all in the details..." and I chose to do a page on making a difference. It's the small, simple gestures that people do, that may not mean much to anyone, but will mean the world to someone who needs it. I'm someone who's big on impacting lives, so this page kinda describes what I feel. :)

Mimosa, Shy Flower

Since young, I have been fascinated by Mimosa. I name it 'Shy Flower' because of how its leaves will close up to touch, only to open again, after a few minutes. I like to think that I'm somewhat similar to the flower because I too, clam up when I meet new people, and it's only after few occasions or so that I will slowly open up to them. My 'Shy Flowers' never fail to brighten up my day. Recently, I just found out that there's a whole field of them in an enclosed open space along my street. Isn't it amazing? :)

'Journaling For A Cause' started yesterday! I'm so glad to be part of Janel's wonderful class once again. She's trying to raise funds through for an adoption because it's really expensive. Go check out her blog and see how you can help her in making it happen. :)

My pages:

The first prompt's all about a welcome page, with five adjectives that describe my life. I chose to be more creative in this class and used magazine paper, washi tape, stickers and random cut-outs, on top of my usual doodling with pens to do up this page. My page ended up as 'Welcome to my filled with love, pooh-beary, optimistic, wacky, unique life'.

Prompt 2's about setting journal goals. This was much easier and I kept it simple.

It's time for my 'BLESSED' journal pages again! I'm guessing that I will only blog about them once a week, for most of the time. :)

It's the first time that I managed to spend with Sayang after being sick for a few days! We wore the same colours without planning beforehand, read each other's minds continuously, satisfied my constant craving for sushi and bought myself a new pen. I felt really blessed that day. :)

Rhea smsed me everyday when I was sick, just to check if I was feeling better. Such a sweet girl~

Let me explain, I don't feel blessed by studying for exams, but instead, blessed by completing the whole process of studying for them, because I feel really accomplished and prepared for whatever questions that will come my way. :)

I finally got to meet up with the hockey girls! We had a good time catching up, laughing and being funny. I really miss them.

I gave the offering message for the FIRST TIME in Kids' Church and it went well! I didn't stutter much and the kids responded. Thank God for that! :D

It rained on Monday when I had to go volunteering at Northlight School and my aunt gave me a ride to and fro. I didn't have to spend a single cent on transport. Hehe.

I've been wanting to get married since like forever. I know I'm only 21 and it sounds really insane, but hey, a girl can dream right? Can't wait for this day to come!

Journal Prompt 29: Today I want you to write a letter to either your past self, or your future self. What are some things that you wish you would have known in the past? What are some things that you want to remember in the future? Write yourself a love letter today!!

I decided to wrote to my future self, reminding me to always be optimistic and to not forget the things that make me happy despite being so caught up in everything. It's also a letter that reflects the goals I wish to have already achieved by then.

Journal Prompt 30: What did you do this week that moved you closer to reaching your goals?

I managed to convince myself to run, in order to stick to my goal of having a healthy lifestyle! Boy, was I glad when I completed the run. It made me feel so healthy and so much slimmer. :P

I've been really busy with exams and assignments the past few days. I finally managed to sit down and catch up with my journal prompts today. It's gonna end soon! Boo Hoo Hoo~

Journal Prompt 24: What is your most favorite place in the world? Is it a country, a town, a room, a secret place that no one else knows about? I know you have one, I want to see it!!

It definitely has to be my room. It's the one and only place that I feel completely safe and relaxed. It's where I can engage in my favourite activity - sleeping, blog and create things. It's where I can let go of all my emotions and not be afraid of being judged. My room's my safe haven.

Journal Prompt 25: I want you to think about your day today. If you had to describe to me in one word, or one short phrase what would it be?? Us this phrase or word repeatedly on your page, trying out new fonts :)

I need food every few hours and this was the day where my schedule doesn't allow for it to happen, so I was constantly feeling hungry. That's the highlight of my day. (don't judge me, food's a HUGE part of my life!)

Journal Prompt 26: Today you are going to write out your favorite recipe!! This can be written, illustrated, cut and pasted, something. It is always really good to document these small little pieces of your life. Don't you think?

I don't really know how to cook though I would love to learn. This recipe was just something that I came up with, using whatever I found in the refrigerator. Turns out to be yummy! :D

I had a change of Chinese name when I was young, after seeing a fortune teller. To this day, I still wish I didn't have to change it because I really prefer my original Chinese name. :(

I love Chinese New Year! We get to wear new clothes, shoes and everything new, get red pockets containing moneys, feast on new year goodies and most importantly, enjoy great family bonding time when we visit each other. That's also when I invite my ethnic friends over for a feel of the Chinese traditional holiday. :)

I chose to feature the different ethnic places of Singapore because I think that's what we're known for, a multi-racial and multi-religion country. Of course, not to forget, the famous symbolic Mr Merlion. I think something that cannot be missed when you visit Singapore is our FOOD! Yummy!

I Cooked Yam Rice!

Yes, I actually cooked yam rice today, for the very first time! Sayang's mum offered to teach me some culinary skills when she heard that I am interested to learn cooking. So, I went over today and with her help, managed to cook a small pot of yummy yam rice. She prepared the ingredients beforehand but I'm still so proud of myself. I'm gonna try to do it myself someday soon! I didn't manage to get a photo of the yam rice though.:(

Will share more when I actually try it on my own! :D

After reading about Lindsay's visit to the hairsalon, I finally pluck up the courage to get a trim, and I kinda like the way it turned out. No more messy and untamed hair that's constantly bugging me, at least for now! Today's journal prompt ties in with my new haircut, so I'm gonna draw about it. Perfect timing for a prompt like this. :)

Journal Prompt 13: Silly insecurities....we all have them unfortunately. If you don't, you are my hero :) Today I want you to document your insecurities, face them, write them down, reflect on them, and get them out of your system. Somewhere on your page I want you to write "BUT..." This will lead in to tomorrow's prompt :) This is definitely not a fun prompt but it's kind of necessary in order to move past them.

I have lots of insecurities that I'm trying hard to work on. It sure took me some courage to be able to share about them. I'm kinda afraid of what others will think about me once they find out about these.

Journal Prompt 14: Ok, now that we have all of the yucky insecurities out of our system, I want us to completely focus ONLY on the things that make you the amazing person that you are. Journal Prompt 10: This prompt is all about collections. I am such a collector. I have too many collections but I love them all. I am definitely the type who moves on though to new collection depending on my mood and the seasons in my life. What do you collect? If anything. This will be fun to look back on someday and see how your collections have grown or have moved on :)

I'm not that much of a collector now that I'm a little tight on finances. Occasionally, I give in to temptations of Pooh stuff and stationery though. I'm trying to work on my needs instead of wants for the time being. There will be a time when I can spend again, hopefully! :)

Over the years, I've came to understand that I don't have to follow trends, especially not blindly. If I feel comfortable and happy with what I'm wearing, then I'll naturally be confident of myself. Of course, there will be moments when I feel bad about myself but hey! I'm gonna push that away and start working on being secured in who I am. I encourage you to do that too, you'll learn to love yourself more! :D

Have you been watching any movies lately? Planning on catching one? Then you really must go and catch these two awesome movies! I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

Jaden Smith did a really good job acting out the character in 'the Karate Kid'. I like how the focus is not on Jackie Chan but on Jaden instead. The story was rather touching towards the end and I find myself trying hard to hold back tears. An inspiring movie! :)

'Toy Story 3' was entertaining throughout. After so many years, it still manages to bring out the story plot excellently and lives up to its name as a childhood favourite. It's definitely worth watching and adults will love it as much as kids! :)

By the way, I just extracted my wisdom tooth. I had 3 shots of injections before the dentist used a plier-looking tool to extract it out. It was painful despite the numbness. I have to admit, I was kinda scared because it's my first time extracting a tooth at the dental clinic. I'm really proud of myself for enduring the pain and forgoing the painkillers though! It was good while it lasted, Goodbye Wisdom Tooth~

Journal Prompt 9: Choose another person who is very significant in your life right now. It can definitely be the same person that we wrote about on day 3, but I chose to do someone different. Anyway, this prompt is going to be all about those wonderful adjectives, and typography. Describe your special person with as many words as you can fit. For each word, try to use a different font or writing style. This is a great way to practice fun typography!

I completed my journal page early today! I had so much fun coming up with different fonts and words to describe my Sayang. He's appearing a lot in my journal pages. :)

P.S. He's being so sweeet in his smses today, made me feel so loved and happy even though I won't get to see him until tomorrow (I hope!). I can't wait to see him, so blessed!

Journal Prompt 7: Today is an easy one... How are you feeling today? Sometimes it's really good to reflect on your feelings and try to figure out why you are feeling a certain way.

It was Fathers' Day yesterday and we were out for the whole day. A great time for family bonding, felt so blessed! This page pretty much summed up the day. :)

Prompt 8:
Today, I want you to illustrate an "inside joke." I want this to be a page that only you and a few other people would get. Inside jokes are always fun (well, when you are apart of them I guess).
I have a journal page from my first year in college where I filled the entire page with inside jokes. Ummmm....I only "get" like two of them :) I have no clue what the other ones even mean anymore. Isn't that crazy?
Easy enough :)

It wouldn't be an inside joke if I explain much about this page right? ;P

Colour Challenge: Rainbow/Multi (&greys &whites); Journal Challenge Day 6

It's the last day of colour challenge! Boo Hoo Hoo! I really love this challenge because it teaches me to appreciate the different colours in my everyday life, and take time to slowly take in all the beautiful things that I will usually take for granted because they're always beside me. Thanks Cat, for coming up with this! :)

I didn't manage to capture a lot today but I would say these are good enough because they're just so charming~

stripes are so common nowadays, there's about 2 in every 10 people that I see wearing them. Sayang calls them zebras (sorry, no offence!). This is a giordano advertisement by the way.

my journal page for the day! I chose to use more colours today, to incorporate into the colour challenge. The watch was inspired by a cool Adidas watch that I saw, which also has a mini calculator on the watchface itself. It's simpler today because I only wrote in tasks that have the highest importance right now, thus the bombs and the tick-tocks, reminding me that time is RUNNING OUT!

Creative Boot Camp Day 13 (It's Over~)

Today marks the end of Creative Boot Camp. It didn't turn out as enjoyable as I had wanted it to be but it was definitely a good learning experience. I learnt to look at things from different perspectives and not only take them literally. Creative Boot Camp has taught me to explore different meanings of different things, so that I can now widen my knowledge, my horizon. :)

Finally did my henna tattoos! I'm loving them so much! Sayang doesn't think much of it because of the colour but he still brought me to get it anyway. He's gonna have to get used to it, I love henna!

I requested for stars to be incorporated into the design and I love how it turned out. Funny story though, I have a friend who gets goose pimples just looking at henna. She can't look at my hands properly now, much less touch them. I didn't know such a thing can exists~

What are your thoughts on henna tattoos? For it? or against it?

Journal Prompt Number Three: It's always nice to share with someone why you love them. Today, I want you to draw a picture, doodle, sketch, of a person who you love, or admire. Then, write that person a letter telling them why they mean so much to you!

In view of the upcoming Father's Day, I chose the journal subject to be my dad. Dads are more likely to be undervalued than Mums and yet they don't complain most of the time. They just give endlessly, without expecting anything in return. I'm gonna take a HUGE step and show this page to my dad on Father's Day! :D

Journal Prompt Number 4: What does your heart look like? It can be literal, it can be symbolic, it can be broken and need fixing...anything!

My concept for this page is more like a mindmap, but I kept it simple by drawing symbolic things representing different loves that keeps me motivated every single day. :D

Creative Boot Camp Day 11 & 12

{HUSH} : this statue of a lady praying just emits a sense of peace, almost like you have to be silent around it.

{SMOOTH} : Oranges have rough skin but they have rather smooth texture once you peel the skin off. It reminds me to not only look at the appearance of someone or something but to explore deeper. :)

This pack of cleansing wipe has a story to tell for the day: I went out of the house, only to come back to retrieve my umbrella and this packet of wipes, reluctantly. However, it came in handy when I went for lunch because the old man nearby had broke the coffee cup and was wiping himself with tissue. I passed his friend my wipes so that it's much easier to clean up the coffee stains all over him. At that moment, I finally realised why I just had to come home to retrieve it earlier. God uses His people at the most unexpected time! :)

It's a pretty simple prompt today and I was so excited to have completed it! At the end of the day, I will always look forward to talking with Sayang over the phone, discussing about our plans for the next day, sharing about the day (whether it was spent together or apart). I will feel really down if we don't talk before I go to sleep, especially if the day was spent apart. It's like a must-have every night. :)

As you may have noticed, there's a new blog button on the right panel of my blog that states 'I have accepted the 30 day journal challenge'. That's right! I've accepted more challenges on top of Creative Boot Camp and Colour Challenge Week. I'm actually using these opportunities to expand my creativity. I'm predicting that it will take up quite a bit of time and be overwhelming at times, but I'm gonna challenge myself to follow through with all the projects! Of course, family time and quality time with people outside of blogging world cannot be neglected and have to take priority before these! :)

For this challenge, I'm using a journal that's given to me by a friend as a birthday gift. I absolutely adore her cover design for me, so inspiring! Today's all about introduction of myself. I'm not totally satisfied with my work but I guess this will do for now. I'm still a bit raw. It will definitely gets better as days go by, I hope! :)

A conversation that happened between Sayang and me the other day...

Me: Why does my hair looks like shit, and others' hair is so pretty?
Sayang: Tell me, whose hair is pretty? I'll make it look like shit too!
Me: *totally dumbfounded* *burst out laughing*

Though these words don't sound or mean much to others, but they were the most beautiful words to me. I had expected Sayang to comfort me by saying it's okay, that my hair's pretty as well. He took me by surprise! So unconventional but sweet in his own way. I guess that's why I fell in love with him. :)
